A legal practitioner, Rtn Cyprian Nwonu has described violence against women as an act of injustice which causes physical, sexual, emotional, psychological harm, hurt or inhumane suffering to women or female gender which includes domestic violence, sexual exploitation and assault, harassment and discrimination.

Reacting on the causes of most violence on female gender in an online interview, Mr Nwonu said he would advocate for proper implementation of all laws, rules and guidelines already in existence in various states in Nigeria particularly Anambra State to eliminate or curb the incidences of violence against women.

He encouraged the victims of such violence to always speak out otherwise no one will know what had happened and charged law enforcement agents of government and Non Governmental Organizations to take all diligent legal steps to prosecute such offenders in courts for proper punishment to be served to deter future violations.

Speaking on the best way to tackle the menace in Nigerian society, the legal practitioner urged  parents not to shy away from engaging their wards on sex education particularly the female children on time as well as to establish proper communication channel with their wards.

He also advised that schools on the other hand should inculcate sex education in their various curriculum and teach girl- chid the dangers of sexual violence as well as religious organizations and non governmental organizations thus should not relent in their roles of emancipation of women particularly the girl chid.

Highlighting on other efforts to ensure the purpose of the campaign is achieved, Nwonu said concerted efforts of various stakeholders working with proper synergy and campaign for violence against women would be eliminated or curbed to the lowest level.

Rtn Nwonu also advised women who experience any form of violence to speak out and seek help from law enforcement agents for proper sanctions.
