CP Strengthens Ties With Federal Polytechnic, Enhance Security

Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu has called for strengthened partnership between the Anambra State Police Command and the Federal Polytechnic Oko management to enhance security services in the area.
CP Orutugu, issued the appeal during a formal meeting convened with Dr. Chioma Irene Amuzie, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, and Mr. Chijoke Okechukwu, Head of Federal Establishments in Anambra State, at the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters in Awka.
The primary objective of the meeting was to formulate joint strategies to mitigate specific security threats in Oko, with particular focus on the Federal Polytechnic and other federal government facilities in the area.
He expressed regret over a recent security incident that occurred on June 19, 2025. According to eyewitness accounts, armed individuals operating a motorcycle and a black Lexus 350 SUV without a license plate fired indiscriminately at the Total junction, resulting in injuries to four people, including a female. The perpetrators subsequently abducted two individuals at the Tipper junction before fleeing the scene.
In their respective remark, Dr. Chioma Irene Amuzie and Mr. Chijoke Okechukwu, expressed gratitude to the police for their timely intervention to the incident which effectively minimized potential harm to lives and property.
They committed to supporting the police in strengthening security protocols, specifically through enhanced surveillance operations and provision of critical information to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
In attendance was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigations Department, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Intelligence Department and other Senior Officers.
Highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a gift to the Rector by the Commissioner of Police demonstrating its dedication to collaborative problem-solving and partnership-building with critical institutions.
