NAWOJ Anambra to Celebrate 2025 International Day of the Girl Child with Empowerment Focus

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra State Chapter, will join the global community to commemorate the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child.
The event centers on the theme: “The Girl I Am, The Change I Need: Girls on the Frontline of Crisis,” highlighting the resilience and potential of every girl child.
The Chairperson of NAWOJ Anambra State Chapter, Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika, emphasized that the celebration seeks to amplify girls’ voices and inspire them to take active roles in shaping their futures and urged stakeholders to create nurturing and empowering environments to help girls thrive.
Scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, Awka, the event will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.
Key participants include Mrs. Ify Obinabo, Honorable Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, who will serve as Mother of the Day.Honorable Beverly Nkemdiche Ikpeazu, Commissioner for Special Duties, will be the special guest speaker, while Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, Executive Chairman of the Anambra State Post Primary Schools Service Commission, will deliver the keynote address. Mrs. Nchedo Mbamalu-Chukwu, founder of Kaycoune Success Empowerment Initiative, will also share insights as a guest speaker.
Comrade Ifejika called on parents, educators, policymakers, and members of the media to unite in protecting and empowering the girl child to reach her full potential. “Come, let us celebrate the girl child—her strength, her voice, our future,” she said.
