In an interview with African Independent Television (AIT), the 78-year-old icon provided a detailed breakdown of his monthly expenses, citing N10,000 for electricity units from the national distribution company, N20,000 for diesel to operate one generator, and an additional N10,000 for petrol to fuel a second generator.
Edochie expressed dismay at the situation, stating that this reflects the harsh reality faced by many citizens, and criticized political leaders for prioritizing power struggles over addressing the everyday challenges of the people.
His revelation highlights the escalating challenges with electricity supply in Nigeria. Despite being classified as Band A consumers, who are theoretically entitled to up to 22 hours of daily power supply under the tiered system, many individuals experience less than five hours of electricity, sparking widespread outrage on social media platforms in recent weeks.
