Governor Charges Corps Members on Patriotism at Anambra NYSC Swearing-In Ceremony

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has charged newly deployed corps members in Anambra State to uphold patriotism, discipline, and national unity as they commence their service year, following their swearing-in at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu.
The governor, represented by Mr. Ifeatu Emodi, gave the charge while declaring open the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), assuring participants of the state government’s commitment to their welfare and security.
A total of 2,300 Prospective Corps Members—comprising 1,080 males and 1,220 females—were formally inducted into national service after taking the oath of allegiance administered by the Anambra State Chief Judge, O. M. Anyachebelu, represented by A. O. Nwabunike.
In her remarks, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, said the orientation programme is structured to instill discipline, teamwork, and self-reliance through drills, physical training, sporting activities, and the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) scheme.
Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, represented by Mr. Martin Ezeilo, reiterated the board’s commitment to providing the necessary policy support and conducive environment for effective service delivery.
Dignitaries at the event included the traditional ruler of Umuawulu, Joel Maduadichie Egwuonwu, as well as heads of security and paramilitary agencies.
The ceremony featured the administration of oath of allegiance and a tug-of-war contest among corps members, while the Governor’s representative was earlier received with a quarter guard of honour.
The three-week orientation exercise will be followed by the deployment of corps members to their various places of primary assignment across the state.
