Anambra Police Record Major Breakthrough as Suspect Confesses to Murders, Kidnappings

The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a significant investigative breakthrough following the confession of a notorious suspect arrested by the Special Anti-Cultism Unit in Enugwu Ukwu on April 30, 2026.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed in a statement issued to journalists that the suspect, 22-year-old Favour Izunna, also known as “Njoku,” is a confirmed member of the Vikings Confraternity, where he allegedly operated as an executioner, terrorizing residents of Obosi and its surrounding areas.
Acting on credible intelligence obtained during interrogation, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, conducted a coordinated raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Obosi. The operation resulted in the recovery of a pump-action gun, five live cartridges, a locally fabricated Beretta pistol, and seven rounds of 7.5mm live ammunition.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to his involvement in the killing of no fewer than five persons in Obosi. He identified three of the victims as Somtochukwu Alfred, Udechukwu Izuchukwu, and Izuchukwu Obi, and further alleged that certain individuals sponsored the killings.
Additionally, Izunna admitted participation in several kidnapping operations across Anambra State, including the abductions of Emeka Chukwuka and Chinelo Onyeka, among others.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered intensified manhunt operations to apprehend other members of the criminal network as well as the alleged sponsors who remain at large.
