Anambra Police Clarify Reasons for Impounding Tinted Vehicles, Assure Public of Due Process
By Chizoba Njaka
The Anambra State Police Command has clarified that its ongoing enforcement against tinted vehicles is aimed at strengthening security and ensuring compliance with the law, rather than causing unnecessary inconvenience to members of the public.
In an official statement issued on July 4 in Awka, the Command stated that vehicles fitted with tinted glass may be impounded, irrespective of whether they possess tinted glass permits, to facilitate the verification of the authenticity of such permits and ensure that due process is observed.
According to the Command, the exercise is designed to identify forged or fraudulently obtained tinted glass permits, enforce compliance with vehicle registration and number plate regulations, and prevent criminals from exploiting tinted vehicles to evade identification and perpetrate crimes.
The Police stressed that the operation is not targeted at any individual but is part of broader efforts to improve public safety and strengthen law enforcement across the state.
The command urged motorists to cooperate with officers during the verification process and ensure that their vehicle documents, number plates and permits are genuine and up to date.
The command also reiterated its commitment to working with the public to build a safer and more secure Anambra State through lawful enforcement and sustained collaboration.
