‎The Anambra State Police Command has assured accredited election observers of its preparedness to ensure a peaceful, secure and credible conduct of the Local Government Election in the State.

‎

‎The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, gave the assurance on Aug. 28, when he received a delegation of accredited election observers at the Command Headquarters in Awka.

‎

‎CP Oji Ama said the Police, in collaboration with sister security agencies, had harmonised their operational plans and deployed adequate personnel and logistics across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.

‎

‎He explained that the security arrangements were designed to provide a safe environment for voters, electoral officials, accredited observers and other stakeholders throughout the electoral process.

‎

‎The commissioner further assured the observers and residents that security personnel had been strategically deployed to facilitate the free movement of law-abiding citizens while responding decisively to any act capable of undermining peace and security in the State.

‎

‎He urged residents to come out without fear to exercise their civic responsibilities, assuring them that the Police and other security agencies would work jointly to protect lives and property before, during and after the election.

‎

‎The CP also reaffirmed the commitment of the command to maintaining peace and ensuring that all stakeholders are able to participate in the electoral process in a secure environment.

‎

‎The delegation comprised representatives of the Nigeria Youth for the Advancement of Democracy Initiative, Abuja; Grassroots Women Empowerment Association of Nigeria; Nigeria Progressive Women and Youth Development Initiatives; and Youth for Agriculture Initiatives.
