‎The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered another alleged fake federal agency operating in Nigeria, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordering the arrest of its suspected promoter and the immediate suspension of three Federal Permanent Secretaries.
‎
‎The agency, identified as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, is allegedly being promoted by one Mr. George Buchi Nwabueze, with suspected collaboration from senior public servants in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
‎
‎ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, disclosed this on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the State House, Aso Villa, Abuja, while briefing journalists after meeting with President Tinubu. According to the Commission, Nwabueze allegedly operates under several variations of his name, including Prince George Buchi Nwabueze, George Nathan, George Nathan Nwabueze, Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze and George Nwabueze.

‎Dr. Aliyu said the latest discovery followed fresh findings from the Commission's ongoing investigation into the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), reportedly promoted by Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew. The ICPC Chairman explained that the findings necessitated a further briefing of the President on the activities surrounding the alleged fake agency.

‎Following the briefing, President Tinubu directed the immediate arrest of Nwabueze and ordered the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries in the OSGF. The affected officials were identified as Ms. Danjuma, Engr. Nandungu Gagare and Richard Pheelangwa.

‎The ICPC reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law and due process in its efforts to investigate and combat corruption and related offences. The Commission also said the investigation into the alleged fake agency and related activities remains ongoing.
