‎The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old woman, identified as Nwachukwu Chidubem Blessing, over an alleged case of conspiracy, fraud and suspected self-kidnapping after her family reportedly paid N3 million as ransom.

‎The woman was said to have been abducted along the Onitsha–Asaba Expressway on August 29, 2026. However, after her family reportedly paid N3 million in ransom without securing her release, the Police intensified investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
‎
‎The investigation eventually led operatives to a room in Asaba, Delta State, where the alleged victim was located and recovered during an operation conducted on the afternoon of September 18, 2026.

‎Preliminary findings, according to the police, indicated that the woman allegedly worked with a female associate identified as Onyinye, whose other names are yet to be established, and another male accomplice whose identity remains unknown, to stage the alleged kidnapping and obtain money from her family.
‎
‎The police said the suspect is currently assisting investigators with useful information that could help establish the full circumstances of the incident and identify other persons allegedly involved.
‎
‎The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has ordered the investigation to be intensified to uncover all the facts surrounding the case and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted in accordance with the law.
