The Anambra State Police Command has appealed to members of the public for assistance in identifying and reuniting a four-year-old boy, who identified himself as Ifedimma Emmanuel, with his family.

‎

‎According to a statement issued to journalists in Awka on Sept. 19 by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the child was found wandering along Anatanaba Road, Okpoko, on the evening of Sept. 18.

‎

‎SP Ikenga said the boy was found during an evening foot patrol conducted jointly by police operatives attached to the Okpoko Police Division and members of the Okpoko Vigilante Group.

‎

He said the child was unable to provide adequate information about his parents, guardians, residential address or other details that could assist the Police in establishing his identity and tracing his family.

‎

‎The PPRO added that the child is currently in the safe custody of the Police, where his welfare and safety are being properly attended to while efforts continue to locate his parents or other relatives.

‎

The command urged parents, guardians, relatives and members of the public who may recognise the child or have useful information about his family to contact the Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command.

‎The police further appealed to anyone with relevant information to promptly come forward to assist in verifying the child’s identity and facilitating his safe reunification with his family.

‎

The command assured the public that the safety and welfare of the child remain a priority, adding that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure his safe and timely reunion with his family.
