Anambra State NUJ Restores Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu as Council Chairman

The atmosphere was filled with jubilation as many chanted and danced over the incumbent Chairman and Chairmanship Candidate of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State, Chapter, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu triumph.
Celebration started immediately when he was declared winner in the just concluded NUJ State Election held at the Secretariat, Awka.
The seat contested were only the chairman and treasurer in which Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu won his opponent Comrade Ngozi Obileri with a great margin of 173 to 40 Votes while Comrade Chibuzo Obidike gained the Treasurer position with total votes of 168 as against his opponent Comrade Ogemdi Ozoemena's 45 votes.
Other positions were returned unopposed such as; the vice chairman, secretary, assistant secretary and financial secretary wherase a bye election will also be conducted in months time to fill in the position of the auditor.
Speaking after his victory, the Chairman, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, expressed his gratitude to journalists who came out en masse to ensure their voice and mind speaks promising that the new executives will ever remain humble and ready to serve the union better than ever with love.
Addressing the Media Practitioners, the Zonal Secretary of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Enugu State Council, Comrade Adiukwu Eze noted that for one to contest for any position in the future must observe two things thus must be align with the rules of the union and be familiar with fellow colleagues.
Comrade Eze advised the Media Practitioners to be committed in the affairs of the union and give support to the elected executives to move to union to a greater height.
In his message, a Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr Onyeka Uwakwe congratulated the new executive urging the chairman to use his experience to unite all members of the union for better.
In his part, the Electoral Committee Chairman Stanley Onunwkwo also appreciated the newly elected executives and urged them to work as a team and in oneness to enable them build the union.
