Anambra State: NLC Chairman Assures NUJ, Support to Promote Fairness and Justice.

The Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Anambra State Council, Comrade Sir Humphrey E. Nwafor has assured the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Anambra State Chapter of their support in all matters that would promote fairness, justice, and the collective good of the society.
Comrade Nwafor who gave this assurance while giving his goodwill message at the NUJ State Delegate Conference held at NUJ Press Centre, Awka, commended the media practitioners for their unwavering dedication to upholding the principles of democracy, transparency, and accountability.
He identified that the press remains an indispensable pillar of the society, beacon of truth, voice for the marginalized, and a watchdog for justice adding that journalists in these challenging times are instrumentalists in shedding light on critical societal issues and amplifying the voices of workers, as well as holding leaders accountable to the people.
The NLC Chairman charged the Media Professionals to
recognize the shared struggles of journalists and workers across all sectors as it concerns their welfare, fair remuneration, and a safe working environment stressing that it is a call for solidarity.
Comrade Nwafor reaffirmed that labour movement and the press are natural allies in the fight for equity and justice adding that together could continue to demand for better policies that would protect the dignity of labour and safeguard the rights of all Nigerians.
He urged the NUJ to remain steadfast in championing ethical journalism as the fourth estate of the realm reminding them that they wield immense power to influence public opinion and shape national discourse.
He also advised the media to use their power to continue serving as a force for unity, progress, and national development and wished journalists a robust deliberations and meaningful outcomes.
Comrade Nwafor as well prayed that God would continue to strengthen the NUJ, enhance the welfare of its members, and further reinforce the integrity of the media profession in the state and beyond.
