Easter: Anambra Police Step Up Measures To Combat Kidnapping and Other Related Crimes, Anambra

The Commissioner of Police Anambra State, STATE CP Ikioye Orutugu has launched Operation UDO GA CHI-zero kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state to ensure safety during Easter celebration.
Speaking during the flag off at Amawbia Junction along other service commanders in Anambra State, CP Orutugu expressed his purpose of the press briefing as to inform the public after thorough review of policing capabilities, have launched Operation Udo Ga Chi, a proactive initiative aimed at combating armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes in Anambra State, particularly during the Easter period to reassure residents and encourage a safe and festive celebration.
He reminded the citizens that the success of Operation Udo Ga Chi relies on inter-agency collaboration and community participation of the Police, Army, Navy, DSS, NSCDC, NIS, NCoS, and FRSC including the Anambra State Vigilante and the general public, particularly Ndi Anambra, who will play a vital role in sharing information to facilitate arrests and prosecutions adding that the collective effort aims to ensure safety and security in the State.
The CP noted that the security forces will benefit from a coordinated approach, enabling daily strategic reassessments to effectively reclaim public spaces stressing that security agencies have been mandated to conduct targeted operations in identified hotspots. This according to him aimed to disrupt criminal activities, enhance public confidence, and ensure resident safety.
CP Orutugu explained that Operation Udo Ga Chi is a multifaceted security initiative designed to combat crime and enhance public safety in Anambra State by utilizing advanced tracking systems, command-and-control systems, and AI-powered surveillance cameras to monitor communities, engage in Stop-and-Search Operations, Joint Security Patrols to maintain law and order, as well deployed to respond swiftly to emerging situations, providing an added layer of security.
He highlighted their motives as to enhance safety and security in public areas, identify and dismantle criminal hotspots, foster trust through coordinated security efforts. By leveraging intelligence gathering, joint operations, and advanced technology, Operation Udo Ga Chi aims to achieve zero tolerance for crimes and criminality in Anambra State, particularly during festive periods.
Expressing gratitude to Ndi Anambra and residents for their cooperation, CP Orutugu assured the public that security operatives under Operation Udo Ga Chi have been instructed to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and civility in their interactions with the community, fostering trust and cooperation.
He also expressed gratitude to the State Government and to the people of Anambra, for their support in repairing operational vehicles and armored personnel carriers, enhancing the security agencies' capabilities. This gesture underscores the importance of collaboration between the government, security agencies, and the community in maintaining peace and security, as emphasized by Governor Charles Soludo's initiative in launching Operation Udo Ga Chi and the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025.
By working together, "we can collectively create a safer, more livable environment for all residents of Anambra State. Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels secure and protected, allowing them to thrive in their communities", he added.
