The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has taken enforcement action against eight Distribution Companies (DisCos) for non-compliance with regulatory guidelines governing estimated billing for unmetered customers.

NERC announced, through an official statement issued in Awka, that the following eight Distribution Companies (DisCos) have been identified as non-compliant: Abuja, Eko, Enugu, Ikeja, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, and Yola.

The Commission levied fines exceeding N628 million on the affected DisCos for non-compliance during the third quarter (July to September 2024). They were further mandated to provide credit adjustments to affected customers on or before May 15, 2025.

NERC reaffirms its dedication to ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks and protecting consumer interests within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
