Anambra Deserves Better: Ukachukwu Vows Change

Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Anambra State's November 8 election, emphasized the imperative need for enhanced governance in the state. Represented by Dozie Ikedife Jnr., APC Southeast Organizing Secretary, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council monthly congress, he expressed confidence in his ability to deliver a superior administration that would effectively address the state's pressing challenges and aspirations.
The APC candidate's representative outlined a comprehensive development agenda, highlighting key priority areas, including: revitalization of the healthcare system, expansion of road infrastructure and boosting agricultural productivity.
Furthermore, he assured that the administration would proactively address prevailing security concerns, aiming to restore peace and stability across the state. Additionally, a visionary education agenda was unveiled, focusing on: increased funding, innovative approaches as well as prioritizing teacher welfare.
These initiatives, he emphasized, would be cornerstone to transforming Anambra State's education system.
Addressing the journalists, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, underscored the significance of self-respect and professionalism in journalism.
Comrade Odogwu emphasized that journalists' credibility hinges on their ability to write objectively and taking themselves seriously. He urged members to uphold a high standard of decorum and conduct themselves in a manner that positively represents the profession.
The NUJ Chairman also expressed concern regarding the attitude of some journalists towards union activities, particularly the tendency to prioritize political engagements over NUJ meetings. Notably, he observed that many journalists often attend meetings merely to sign attendance registers without actively participating in discussions. The chairman called for a paradigm shift in this behavior, emphasizing the need for more meaningful engagement and commitment to union activities.
