Youth Skills Scheme Cohort 2 Takes Off with Prompt Payments to Contractors

The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) convened its 15th meeting in Awka, whereupon key resolutions were approved.
According to an official statement signed by the Commissioner of Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the Council deliberated on the notable achievements of Cohort 1 of the Soludo administration's flagship youth empowerment programme. The programme yielded impressive results, with 7,163 out of 11,000 trainees demonstrating exceptional proficiency in 65 skill areas.
Furthermore, 235 Umuboi (apprentices) from the Local Enterprise Development initiative across the state's 21 local governments achieved remarkable success, with over 1,000 individuals emerging as millionaires among the graduates. Consequently, the Council approved the allocation of funds for the empowerment of Cohort 2, which is poised for commissioning.
Dr. Mefor emphasized that the Council reaffirmed its commitment to the state's contractor payment system, ensuring timely payments to all contractors without any outstanding debts. This policy has been consistently implemented since the inception of the Soludo Government over three years ago, underscoring the administration's dedication to transparency and accountability.
He stated, the Council approved the Awka City Park Project, a comprehensive initiative designed to provide multifaceted benefits to the Awka capital city, including environmental, aesthetic, recreational, social, health, and economic advantages adding that the project is scheduled to commence without delay, further enhancing the quality of life for residents.
The Commissioner disclosed that the Council sanctioned the release of N2,835,150,000 for various projects, including: 1Youth 2Skills Business Financing Scheme: N2,588,520,000, 1Youth 2Skills Cooperatives Start-up: N141,900,000, Graduation and Certification: N73,230,000, 1Youth 2Skills Mentorship Scheme: N31,000,000 and Consolation to the Deceased Family: N500,000.
These decisions underscore the administration's resolute dedication to empowering youth, developing infrastructure, and promoting social welfare.
