By Chizoba Njaka

On August 14, 2025, operatives from the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu recovered a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle and an empty magazine from an apartment in Umuike Village, Awka. This breakthrough stems from ongoing investigations into a double murder case in Okochi Village, Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area, where two men were brutally killed.

According to an official statement issued in Awka by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer,  SP Tochukwu Ikenga,  the prime suspect, Nwajagu, had been evading capture since the incident.

SP Ikenga disclosed that the suspect was tracked to an apartment in Awka but managed to escape through the back door upon spotting the police operatives.

The Command however assured the public that efforts are being intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring him to justice.

Meanwhile ,the recovered firearm has been taken into custody as an exhibit, and further developments will be communicated in due course.
