The Anambra State Police Command is gearing up to provide security for the upcoming bye-elections on August 16, 2025.
According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga, AIG Godwin Eze has been deployed as the Supervisory Officer and has taken charge of deploying personnel for the exercise.
To ensure a smooth election, the police have implemented security measures, including restricting vehicular movement from 6 am to 6 pm in affected areas, such as Nnewi North and South, Orumba North and South, Ekwusigo, Aguata, Ihiala, Onitsha North Constituency 1, and Awka South Local Government.
The command urges citizens to cooperate with security personnel and report any complaints or emergencies. Only accredited security personnel will be allowed to participate in election duties, while vigilante operatives and other quasi-security outfits are prohibited.
