Anambra State Government Acts Swiftly Over NYSC Member Assault

The Anambra State Government has taken decisive action following a disturbing incident involving a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who was harassed and beaten by members of Operation Udo Ga-Achi in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area. The incident, which occurred on July 25, 2025, sparked widespread outrage after a video surfaced online.

According to the Commissioner for Information Dr. Law Mefor, revealed that the state government swiftly apprehended and interrogated the culprits even before the video surfaced.

Dr. Mefor explained further that the state government in partnership with the police, is pursuing justice, and the perpetrators have been suspended from duty pending investigation and disciplinary measures. 

He also stated that medical attention has been provided to the victim, and the government has committed to offering all necessary help. Additionally, encouraged NYSC members and the public to collaborate freely with security agencies in the state.

The government reaffirmed Anambra State's reputation as a safe and welcoming place, promising to take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
