Ekwueme Pledges Open-Door Policy for Anambra South Development

The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), Anambra South Senatorial District in the Bye-election slated on August 16th, 2025, Barrister Peter Ekwueme has promised to adopt an open-door policy, engaging with various stakeholders to drive socioeconomic development and enhance security.
Barrister Ekwueme disclosed this during an interactive session with the Congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council in Awka that he would regularly host youths, men, women, and other key stakeholders to brainstorm and find solutions to pressing issues affecting the Senatorial district. This approach, he believes, would foster inclusive decision-making and promote collective progress.
By adopting this open-door policy, Ekwueme aimed to ensure that all voices are heard and valued, leading to more effective and sustainable development initiatives. His commitment to engaging with the people underscores his determination to serve the interests of Anambra South.
He also promised to prioritize free healthcare packages for the elderly in Anambra South, aiming to reduce mortality rates among individuals aged 60 and above. He believes that the experience, knowledge, and wisdom of this age group are vital to community development.
According to him, "We are losing a lot of our older people whose experience, knowledge and wisdom are critical to the development and leadership of our various communities, villages and kindreds, and a lot of these deaths can be avoided through proper, free healthcare".
Barrister Ekwueme pointed out that being politically conscious goes beyond voting; it involves protecting the rights, welfare, and future of vulnerable community members. He noted that Anambra South's resources have been shrouded in secrecy for too long and calls for an end to the practice.
He as well urged citizens to demand open, audited accounting of all senatorial resources, to be done yearly, publicly, and without exception aiming to end deceit, backdoor dealings, and misappropriation, championing transparency and accountability.
The NNPP candidate whose political Ideology is anchored on transparency and accountability is confident that if elected he will revolutionize representation in Anambra South through public accounting and auditing to ensure that the resources of the people are effectively and efficiently utilized.
He maintained that the Senate requires individuals with the knowledge and political will to combat corruption head-on. He emphasized the need for leaders who can empower youths and other members of society, transforming the zone into an industrial hub and creating opportunities for people to become employers of labor.
