Sen. Umeh Casts Vote in Anambra, Calls for Peaceful, Credible Election

Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), exercised his civic duty in the ongoing Anambra governorship election, urging citizens to actively participate while stressing the importance of a free, fair, and peaceful process.
Voting alongside his wife, Senator Umeh highlighted that every eligible voter must choose their preferred candidate to strengthen democracy.
Reflecting on his historic roles in previous governorship elections from backing Peter Obi in 2003 and 2010 to supporting Willie Obiano and Governor Soludo, he revealed this election marks a shift for him. Unlike before, when he served as a key collation agent ensuring victories for his party’s candidates, this time he stepped back to vote quietly, respecting the people’s right to decide without external influence.
Observing a peaceful atmosphere at his polling unit and across the state, Senator Umeh praised security arrangements that prevented the confusion and disruptions often seen in past polls.
He appealed for calm and urged all involved to reject any attempts to manipulate results, emphasizing that true democracy flourishes when voters’ choices are respected. “It is too early to conclude the election's outcome,” Umeh, said “because any interference usually happens late in the process and prayed that Anambra will avoid such act by so doing their votes cast today will be honored.
"The senator concluded by stressing that Nigeria’s democratic growth depends on honouring the will of the people and conducting elections free from fraud.
He called on all stakeholders to ensure the final results reflect the genuine choice of Anambra’s citizens, paving the way for a credible and transformative electoral process.
