Governor Soludo Extends Condolences to Families of Lagos Fire Victims

‎By Chizoba Njaka

‎The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has extended his sincere condolences to the families affected by the tragic fire incident at Great Nigeria Insurance House on Martins Street, Lagos Island, which occurred on December 24, 2025, resulting in loss of life.

‎In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, in Awka, Governor Soludo expressed profound sorrow at the incident, which transformed a festive Christmas Eve into a day of mourning. He lamented the loss of three brothers from Anambra's Uzoakwa Community in Ihiala Local Government Area: Mr. Steve Onyeka Omatu (40), Mr. Casmir Nnabuike Omatu (39), and Mr. Collins Kenechukwu Omatu (37), describing their deaths as a significant loss to their family and the state.

‎The Governor commended the prompt response of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire Service, and other emergency responders who worked to save lives and contain the fire. He urged Anambra residents in Lagos and elsewhere to prioritize personal safety over property in the event of emergencies.

‎Governor Soludo prayed for the strength and resilience of the affected families, eternal peace for the deceased, and called for a thorough investigation into the incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
