Nollywood Star Yul Edochie Unfazed by Father's Denial of Second Marriage
Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has responded calmly to his father, Pete Edochie's recent claim of being unaware of Yul's marriage to Judy Austin.
In a interview, the 44-year-old actor dismissed the remark as his father's personal opinion, insisting it left him completely unmoved.
Yul explained that Pete is entitled to his views, adding, “Why he decided to say it is in his mind.” He emphasized his deep respect for the veteran actor, who raised six children, stating, “I love him. I respect him. He cannot get me angry. No matter what he says, I’m not moved.” Despite this, Yul asserted his independence as an adult, noting he would still kneel or obey his father out of tradition but stands by his choices.
The actor rejected the need to over-explain, declaring, “Real men don’t explain or complain, you face it.” He concluded that his personal decisions, including his marriage, are his alone to own, regardless of family commentary. This exchange highlights ongoing family dynamics amid Yul's controversial second marriage.
Recall, Pete Edochie, in his 2023 Chude Jideonwo interview, explicitly praised Yul's first wife, May (often called Mary), as a "brilliant young woman" and a "computer whiz," declaring her his favorite daughter-in-law among his five. He credited her fully for the success of Yul's marriage up to that point, stating that "the success of that home is credited to May," while noting he was unaware of Yul taking a second wife.
Edochie emphasized his deep bond with her, saying she is "not just a daughter-in-law" but like a true daughter, and he would remain endeared to her forever.
