Anambra Police Recover AK-47 Magazines, Ammunition in Raid on Suspected Cultists’ Hideout

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the Inspector-General of Police's Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) have recovered two AK-47 magazines, 60 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and other police-related items during a raid on a suspected cultists' hideout in Awada, Idemili North Local Government Area.
A Joint Team of Senior Anambra State Government Officials recently inspected, a black spot located on Nwaziki Street, an area reportedly associated with cult-related activities. The development was disclosed in a statement issued to journalists in Awka by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
Although no suspect was apprehended during the operation, the Police Command stated that investigations have commenced to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects, determine the ownership of the recovered exhibits, and dismantle any criminal network connected to the items.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for their proactive, intelligence-driven approach to crime prevention. He reaffirmed the command's commitment to sustaining coordinated raids and other strategic operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements and dismantling their hideouts across the state.
