Anambra Police Secure Remand of Couple Over Alleged Child Abuse of 10-Year-Old Boy

‎The Anambra State Police Command has secured the remand of Mr. Chukwudi Chukwuyere, 40, and Mrs. Chisom Chukwuyere, 30, at a correctional facility over the alleged abuse of a 10-year-old boy in Isiowulu, Anambra State.


‎The command disclosed that the suspects were arraigned before a competent court on June 25 following the conclusion of preliminary investigations into the matter. The case attracted significant public attention after reports and video footage of the victim circulated widely on social media platforms.


‎According to the Police Command, prompt intervention by operatives led to the rescue of the child, who was immediately provided with medical care. The suspects were subsequently arrested and charged to court in connection with the alleged offence.


‎The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended residents of Isiowulu for their vigilance and timely provision of credible information, which aided the successful rescue of the victim and the arrest of the suspects.


‎He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to the protection of vulnerable persons and the pursuit of justice, noting that the action aligns with the vision and directives of the Inspector-General of Police.


‎The police command assured members of the public that further updates would be provided as investigations and legal proceedings continue.
