Retired IGP Okiro, Ex-PSC Chairman Visit Anambra Police Command, Endorse Community Policing Efforts

The Anambra State Police Command has recorded another significant boost in public confidence and stakeholder support following a courtesy visit by retired Inspector-General of Police and former Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), RTD. IGP Mike Okiro, alongside former PSC Chairman, Chief Simon Okeke, to the Command Headquarters in Awka on July 31.
According to a statement issued to journalists in Awka by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the delegation also included the former Permanent Secretary of the Police Service Commission, Dr. Michael Ibeh.
The distinguished visitors were received by the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), AIG Ikioye Orutugu, in the company of members of the Command Management Team and other senior police officers.
The visit underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, respected statesmen, and critical stakeholders in advancing effective policing, strengthening public confidence, and improving security across Anambra State.
The command described the visit as a strong endorsement of its ongoing commitment to professionalism, intelligence-led policing, and community-oriented policing as key strategies for combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents.
Reaffirming its commitment to the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, the Anambra State Police Command pledged to deepen its partnership with stakeholders and members of the public in building a more accountable, responsive, and people-focused Police Force.
