ANSACA Urges Women to Use Female Condoms to Prevent HIV, STIs, Unintended Pregnancy

‎By Chizoba Njaka

‎The Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) has called on women to take greater control of their sexual and reproductive health through the proper use of female condoms.

‎The agency, in a public health awareness campaign, in Awka, emphasised that female condoms offer women an additional option for protecting themselves against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), while also helping to prevent unintended pregnancies.

‎According to the campaign message, women are encouraged to “protect yourself, take control” by making informed choices about their sexual health and using appropriate protective measures.

‎ANSACA highlighted four key benefits of female condoms, including protection against HIV and STIs, prevention of unintended pregnancy, and the importance of using a new condom every time.

‎The agency also cautioned users against reusing female condoms or using them together with male condoms, noting that a female condom should not be reused once it has been used.

‎The campaign urged women to “know your options” and prioritise their health by accessing reliable information and appropriate protection.

‎ANSACA further encouraged members of the public seeking information or assistance to contact the agency through 0704 650 5691 or 0912 229 8700, or visit its website at www.ansaca.org.

The campaign forms part of ongoing efforts to promote HIV prevention, sexual health awareness and safer practices among residents of Anambra State.
