Anambra Police Nab Suspected Armed Robber, Recover Stolen Vehicle

In a swift and intelligence-led operation, operatives of the Anambra State Police Command's Special Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugwu-Ukwu has arrested a 32-year-old suspected armed robber and member of a separatist group, Charles Chinonso, and recovered a vehicle stolen in Imo State. The recovery was made in Umuazu Village, Nise, Awka South Local Government Area, early today, August 10, 2025.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in Awka, said that the stolen vehicle was recovered following a thorough investigation.

 According to SP Ikenga, the vehicle was snatched in the World Bank Housing Area, Owerri West Local Government Area, Imo State, and the victim promptly reported the incident to the police. Utilizing credible technological intelligence, the police operatives successfully tracked the vehicle to Umuazu Village, Nise, Awka South Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of the suspect, Charles Chinonso.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, assured the general public that the command will collaborate with the Imo State Police Command, as the robbery incident occurred within their jurisdiction, to ensure that the suspect and the recovered vehicle are processed in accordance with extant legal procedures.
