NAWOJ Anambra Chapter Commemorates International Day Of The Girl Child

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra State Chapter, has today participated in the global commemoration of the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, an annual event observed on October 11th to promote the welfare and development of girls worldwide.
In an official statement issued to journalists in Awka, the NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika, underscored the significance of the theme, "The girl I am, the change I lead: Girls on the frontline of crisis." Comrade Ifejika lauded the resilience, leadership, and advocacy demonstrated by girls in the face of adversity, highlighting their capacity to drive positive transformation within their communities.
Comrade Ifejika commended girl children who have overcome hardships to excel in various pursuits, urging those facing challenges to harness their inner strength and resilience to overcome obstacles.
she used the occasion to call upon stakeholders, including government agencies, religious organizations, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, and families, to collaborate in creating an enabling environment that supports the holistic development of the girl child, thereby empowering them to become agents of positive change in Anambra State and beyond.
