Police Warn Against Security Breaches During New Yam Festival

‎The Anambra State Police Command has issued a stern warning to individuals and groups planning to breach the peace during the ongoing New Yam Celebration across various communities in the state.

‎ According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga, any attempt to organize parallel events or undermine recognized community or government leadership will face the full weight of the law.

‎The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed security operatives to intensify visibility policing, patrols, and intelligence gathering to ensure maximum security before, during, and after the celebration. Divisional Police Officers, tactical teams, and Area Commanders have been tasked with maintaining law and order within their areas of responsibility.

‎The command however, joins the people of Anambra State in celebrating their significant cultural festival wishing all communities a peaceful and joyous New Yam Festival. Therefore, urges everyone to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a successful celebration.
