‎ The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended a suspected member of a proscribed secessionist group following an early morning intelligence-led operation on November 20, 2025. Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, arrested Friday Nnamdi Anyikame, a 25-year-old male, in Ihiala, and recovered two pump-action firearms and 29 live cartridges.

‎According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect confessed during interrogation to being an active member of an armed group and revealed that he operates from a criminal camp located in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

‎The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for their swift and coordinated response and has directed an immediate intensification of security surveillance and targeted raid operations across the state. He assured residents that the Command is closing in on other fleeing members of the gang and is determined to dismantle their criminal network in Anambra.

‎CP Orutugu urges citizens of Anambra to remain vigilant and continue to support the Police with timely and actionable information to aid ongoing security operations.
