Anambra Police Recover Bodies of Two Abducted Cameroonian Women, Hunt for Third Suspect Intensifies

The Anambra State Police Command has issued an update on the ongoing investigation into the abduction of three Cameroonian nationals within the state. Previously, two individuals, Nonso Augustine Akpeh (37) and Kingsley Akpeh (44), were taken into custody and are currently cooperating with authorities, providing crucial information.
According to a press release issued in Awka by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, recalled that on 28 November 2025, the law enforcement officials, in conjunction with specialized river divers and community volunteers, conducted a thorough search operation along the Omambala River, situated in Anambra West Local Government Area. During this operation, the remains of two female individuals, believed to be victims of the abduction, were recovered. The deceased have been identified by family members as Mrs. Bognou Alice and Miss Sandra.
The remains have been transferred to a mortuary for further forensic analysis and procedural examination.
The Police Commissioner, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has also directed an intensification of efforts to locate the remaining missing victim and capture Uchenna Nicholas Mmadu, the third suspect who is currently at large.
The Commissioner extended his sincere condolences to the bereaved family and friends, reiterating the command's unwavering dedication to safeguarding citizens, preserving public safety, and upholding justice.
