ANSEC Approves Over ₦4.3 Billion for Strategic Infrastructure Development, Announces Grand Festive Celebrations

At its 23rd meeting convened on November 17, 2025, at the Light House in Awka, the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) sanctioned allocations exceeding ₦4.3 billion for pivotal infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the state’s development and overall quality of life for its residents.
In an official statement by Commissioner for Information Law Mefor, the Council revealed an array of initiatives including the procurement of an ₦87 million asset insurance policy for the Light House, Awka, alongside major infrastructural undertakings such as the rehabilitation of Court Road and Obunagu Road, and upgrades at the Court of Appeal Complex, Awka-Etiti.
Other key projects approved include the installation of fire-fighting equipment at the College of Nursing Sciences, Umueze-Isuofia, and a 32kva solar power system at the Country Club within Solution Fun City, Awka.
The Council also authorized critical construction works including the Ikenga-Isuofia-Igboukwu discharge channel and development of the Solution Park & Pay Garage at Ekwulobia. Further investments will extend electricity to rural communities and improve traffic management through new traffic light systems at vital junctions in Awka and Nnewi, underscoring a balanced focus on both urban and rural infrastructure enhancement.
Moreover, ANSEC announced plans for “Onwa Dezemba,” an exceptional festive event set to take place in December at Solution Fun City, Awka, and the refurbished Ekwueme Square. The festival will feature masquerade displays, Christmas carols, and performances by renowned Nigerian artists, promising a memorable cultural celebration for Ndi Anambra.
The Council also reaffirmed its support for university autonomy in the appointment of vice chancellors, welcoming Professor Ugochukwu Anyaehie as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University. Additionally, ANSEC vehemently dispelled false social media reports regarding former Governor Willie Obiano’s demise, affirming his excellent health and expressing profound gratitude for his wellbeing.
These resolutions emphasize the State Government’s unwavering commitment to sustainable infrastructure development, cultural enrichment, and educational advancement across Anambra State, reflecting a holistic approach to regional growth and citizen welfare.
