Anambra Govt Vows to Prosecute Suspects in Underage Sex Exploitation Case

The Anambra State Government has taken cognizance of a disturbing video circulating on social media, which appears to show thirty-five underage children from Ebonyi State, who have been missing since October 2025, being held in a brothel in Aguleri, where they are allegedly being subjected to sexual exploitation.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the Anambra State Government has expressed its utmost condemnation of the alleged acts, emphasizing that they constitute a gross violation of human dignity, moral decency, and the laws of Nigeria, including the Child Rights Act and the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act.
The statement notes that the alleged conduct is a serious infraction of the rights of the child, and the government has directed relevant security agencies to conduct an immediate investigation, rescue and protect the affected minors, and prosecute those responsible to the full extent of the law.
The government has assured the public that it is committed to ensuring public safety, particularly the protection of vulnerable individuals, including children, and has urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
The statement concludes by encouraging citizens to report any suspicious activities, assuring confidentiality, and providing a contact number, 5111, for reporting such incidents.
