Iran's Security Chief Ali Larijani has warned US President Donald Trump to "be careful not to be eliminated" amidst escalating Middle East conflicts and threats to the Strait of Hormuz. Larijani dismissed Trump's threats as "empty," stating that Iran has survived greater foes in the past.
The warning comes after Trump threatened to retaliate "twenty times harder" if Iran disrupts oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passage carrying nearly one-fifth of the world's crude oil. Trump framed this as a global interest, citing China's dependence on the route.
Larijani's statement on social media platform X emphasized Iran's resilience: "Iran is not afraid of your empty threats. Even those greater than you could not eliminate the Iranian nation. Take care of yourself not to be eliminated".
The exchange highlights rising tensions between the US and Iran, with potential implications for global oil markets and regional stability.
