Romano Reveals Chelsea's Exit Plan For Rosenoir

Following Chelsea’s record of adverse results on Sunday, Fabrizio Romano has disclosed the current position of Chelsea and owners BlueCo regarding the potential dismissal of Head Coach Liam Rosenior.
The initial period of optimism under Rosenior has evidently concluded, with the club’s performances deteriorating significantly over the past month.
Chelsea suffered a comprehensive defeat in the UEFA Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain, recording two three-goal losses and exiting the competition with an 8-2 aggregate scoreline.
The club recorded a 7-0 victory over Port Vale to progress to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. However, given that the opposition are struggling in League One, any outcome short of a convincing win would have been deemed unsatisfactory.
In the Premier League, Chelsea have now sustained three consecutive defeats without scoring a goal: Everton 3-0, Newcastle United 1-0, and Manchester City 3-0. This marks the first occasion since 1998 that Chelsea have lost three successive league fixtures without registering a goal.
Rosenior is now under significant scrutiny, with the club facing a genuine risk of failing to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Fifth position is sufficient to secure qualification, and that is Chelsea’s current league standing. Nevertheless, a fixture against Manchester United is forthcoming, and a visit to Liverpool at Anfield remains. The clubs in pursuit are closely monitoring the situation.
According to Fabrizio Romano, speaking via his YouTube channel, the indication he has received directly from Chelsea is that the club remains committed to retaining Rosenior.
Romano emphasised that football is a results-driven industry, thereby suggesting that Rosenior’s position could become untenable if UEFA Champions League qualification is not achieved. At present, however, the intention of Chelsea and BlueCo is to continue with Rosenior into the forthcoming season and beyond.
“I continue to inform you that for Rosenior, with Chelsea losing 3-0 against Manchester City, that is three consecutive defeats without scoring a single goal for the first time in the Premier League since 1998. It is, therefore, a particularly challenging period,” Romano stated.
“Chelsea maintain that they wish to support and place confidence in the manager. That is the message emanating from the club.
“It is a difficult moment, certainly, but they do not overlook the fact that the manager assumed the role in January. Consequently, it is not comparable to undertaking pre-season and preparing one’s own squad. This is the view held by Chelsea.
“Now, evidently, we operate within a results-oriented industry. It is an industry invariably linked to results. Therefore, we must observe how the remainder of the season unfolds for Chelsea. Naturally, this will be important in determining the situation with Rosenior.
“But at the moment, the message from Chelsea, even following the disappointing defeat against Manchester City, is that they wish to retain confidence in this manager.”
