‎The Anambra State Police Command has provided financial assistance for the urgent medical treatment of a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly subjected to severe abuse by his guardian in Isiowulu, Anambra State.

‎In a statement issued in Awka on June 17, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department were deeply touched by the child's condition after witnessing the extent of his injuries and suffering.

‎He said the command's intervention was aimed at supporting the child's treatment and recovery, in line with its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons, particularly children.

‎According to the statement, the Police considered it necessary to act after assessing the boy's condition firsthand, stressing that victims of abuse deserve immediate care and support rather than being left to endure further hardship.

‎It further revealed that investigations into the incident have been intensified, with assurances that all persons found responsible will be prosecuted in accordance with the law. The command reaffirmed its determination to enforce laws safeguarding children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other forms of violence.

‎The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, assured residents that the command would continue collaborating with relevant government agencies, child protection groups, and community stakeholders to promote and protect the rights, safety, and welfare of children across Anambra State.

‎CP Orutugu emphasized that the Anambra State Police Command remains dedicated to upholding justice, compassion, and human rights, in line with the vision and directives of the Inspector-General of Police.
