Anambra Police to Foot Medical Bills of Surviving Child in Ideani Incident

The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic incident involving four children discovered unconscious in Ideani Community, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner, who stated this during his maiden briefing after assuming duty on Monday, August 10, 2026, said the children, aged 6, 9, 12 and 15, were discovered in an unconscious state during the incident.
CP Oji Ama announced that the Anambra State Police Command would bear the full medical expenses of the surviving child, assuring that the Command would closely monitor the child's treatment and recovery.
According to him, the decision was driven by the need to ensure that every necessary medical intervention is provided, stressing that the immediate priority of the Command is to see the child recover out of respect for the sanctity of human life.
The Commissioner also assured the people of Anambra State that the circumstances surrounding the incident would be investigated with the highest level of professionalism. He said the Command had received comprehensive briefings on the security situation in the state since his assumption of office.
While appreciating the sacrifices of police officers and men as well as other security agencies, CP Oji Ama commended the people of Anambra for their continued cooperation, support and partnership with security agencies in maintaining peace, security and public safety.
He pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to strengthen security and ensure the safety of residents across the state.
