ANSACA Takes HIV Awareness, Free Testing to Awka Fitness Centre
The Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) has taken HIV awareness and testing to a fitness centre in Awka, the state capital, as part of efforts to promote healthy living and prevent the spread of HIV and other diseases.
The outreach, themed “Fitness in Sound Health,” featured free HIV testing, viral hepatitis and malaria screening, vital signs checks and health education for participants.
The agency also distributed free condoms and lubricants while sensitising participants on the importance of practising safer sexual health.
Participants were particularly educated on the correct and consistent use of both male and female condoms as an effective measure for preventing HIV and reducing the risk of sexually transmitted infections.
The initiative underscored the importance of combining physical fitness with regular health checks and informed health choices.
ANSACA encouraged members of the public to take responsibility for their health by getting tested, knowing their HIV status and adopting healthy practices. The agency charged the public to: “Stay Fit. Know Your Status. Stay Healthy.”
